Offered to City of Lompoc residential customers for the proper disposal and recycling of qualified refrigerators and freezers.
This application should be submitted within 12 months of the disposal date.
Rebates are limited to 100% of the total project cost.
Before you get started
- Refrigerator and freezer units being recycled must be 7.75 or greater cubic feet volume to qualify.
- Compact units less than 7.75 cubic feet are not eligible for the rebate.
Rebate documentation
Proof of proper disposal and recycling is required to receive a rebate.
- If you use your new appliance’s retailer to recycle an old unit, their haul away should be marked.
- Haul away should either be an item on the new unit’s receipt or noted with your order as a service provided.
- When using an independent hauler, obtain a receipt for their pickup and disposal.
- If you take an old unit to the landfill, obtain a landfill receipt from the date of disposal.

Rebate amounts
$75 for Refrigerator or Freezer Retirement (Only)
$35 for Secondary Refrigerator or Freezer Retirement (No replacement appliance purchased)
Paid as a credit on customer’s utility account.
Recycling Notice: Refrigerators or Freezers may be recycled at the City of Lompoc (City) Landfill. The City will take the old appliance to the landfill at no cost. Call the City’s Solid Waste Office at (805) 875-8024 to schedule a bulky item pickup. Allow up to 3 weeks for removal. Place the appliance out where your regular refuse is placed before 7:00 am on the scheduled pickup day. To be hauled away, all doors must be sealed with duct tape and appliances must be empty.
Allow 8 to 10 weeks to receive the rebate if all qualifications are met.
