Citizens Electric Corporation provides rebates for qualifying Geothermal Heat Pumps to commercial, industrial, and institutional members.
Before you get started
- Applications should be submitted within 60 days after the project completion date.

Specifications
New Geothermal Heat Pump must replace gas heating & air conditioning systems, or be installed in new construction.
New equipment is from 65,000 Btuh to 240,000 Btuh (5.4 to 20 tons).
EER 17.1 or greater and COP 3.6 or greater.
Both condenser and coil must be installed as a matched set.
Systems qualify only if a geothermal heat exchanger is used for space heating and cooling.
System designer must be a Certified GeoDesigner (CGD) or be a licensed professional engineer who has successfully completed an accredited geothermal design course.
Documents required
- Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) Certificate
- Manufacturer’s data sheet which includes efficiency and testing conditions
- Heat Loss/Heat Gain Calculations (Manual J or equivalent)
- Copy of invoice
Rebate
$750 per ton
The incentive payment cannot exceed 75% of the total project cost. Self-labor cannot be included in total project cost.
Commercial, industrial, and institutional members are eligible for a maximum of $25,000 per individual site per calendar year.
