IDEA Rebate Assignment

Download form

Rebates are available to customers of utilities participating in IDEA who have responsibility for their utility account at the installation address where a qualifying efficiency improvement is made. To pay the rebate to a party other than the customer named on the utility account requires a Rebate Assignment.

Requirements

  • A completed Rebate Assignment must have signatures and dates from the utility customer and the party who is to receive the rebate.
  • The Rebate Assignment must be included with the application when it is finalized.
  • If a contractor is to receive the rebate, the final invoice must show how the project’s total cost was reduced by the rebate amount.
  • If the application’s final documentation is received without a satisfactory Rebate Assignment, the payment will be issued to the utility customer regardless of any other claims.

Typical circumstances that need a Rebate Assignment

  • The contractor provides the incentive directly to their customer in the form of a reduced project cost, and the contractor receives the utility’s rebate payment. This is commonly called an “instant incentive.”
  • A landlord owner, property manager, or family member who is not responsible for the utility account paid for the improvement.

Rebate offers may be changed or discontinued at any time.
