New Ground Source Heat Pump Upgrade

Eligible Residence Types

  • New Construction Site Built Homes*
  • Existing Site Built Homes* with:
    • Existing Air/Ground Source Ducted Heat Pump
    • Ductless Heat Pump
    • Electric Zonal
    • Gas, Oil, Propane, Wood, No Heat
    • Replacement of existing Ground Source Compressor Components (must include replacement of compressor, heat exchanger, expansion and reversing valves, piping connections, and control connections)

Minimum Installation Requirements and Conditions

  • The new equipment must be ENERGY STAR® Certified. Please refer to energystar.gov to learn more about ENERGY STAR® products.
  • A Desuperheater is NOT required to receive this rebate.
  • The New Heat Pump must be installed according to the current Performance Tested Comfort Systems (PTCS) standards by a PTCS and International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) Certified Installer.
  • Newly commissioned and installed according to the IGSHPA specifications as well as the Bonneville Power Administration’s (BPA) ground source heat pump specifications available here for closed-loop systems and here for open-loop systems.
  • Eligible installations must be entered and accepted into the PTCS online site registry, found here.
  • All system components must be new and recently installed. The replacement of an existing ground source heat pump thermal exchange loop does not qualify for a rebate.
  • Only one Ground Source Heat Pump rebate per home.
  • Ground Source Heat Pumps are subject to quality assurance inspection by a BPA qualified inspector.
